Well... It's that time of year again. I've come to the point in the year where the unexpected is starting to happen. The Tampa Bay Lightning are your Stanley Cup Champions. What a year to be alive. It's all turning upside down and inside out. It was a final series between the Lightning and the Dallas Stars... That in itself is crazy. However, I do have to admit something.
Yes... I was wrong. I placed a bet on the Dallas Stars to win the series and they lost 3-2. It was probably one of the more embarrassing experiences of my year. I had to go home and tell everyone that I lost a bet for the first time this year. I can't believe I lost a bet for the first time this year and it is September. I was so close to a perfect year. Dallas didn't bottle it and stuff it up, at least I don't think so and I refuse to blame them for my false hope. It was my fault. I was so hopeful that the Dallas Stars were able to destroy Tampa Bay to the point where I placed a bet.
It was a great series to end a great bubble season. I'm going to say this... The bubble series games are probably harder to win than a normal season series. This bubble has been perfect for sports fans. Unfortunately, the NHL doesn't know how to advertise and it also doesn't know how to place games in a good timeslot because everyone missed them while too busy watching the NBA Playoff games in Orlando. Never before (recently, at least) have all four North American leagues played at the same time. What a time to be alive.
Congratulations Tampa. You're not a bad sporting city and you are for sure a Hockey town. I don't think anyone has the right to say otherwise. Celebrate hard because let's be honest, this probably won't happen to you guys again anytime soon.
Oh yeah... Buccs stink.
