Very sorry to everyone but I am going to geek out over the Tokyo loves fencing website. It just looks so nice. Everything is so smooth and pretty. So easy to access and find what I need, and what I need is the photo below! So if you got to the International fencing federation page the first photo you see is this amazing one below and wow just look at it. bright colours, cool characters and big words! All you need to attract a magpie like me.
So I have been looking at the website ‘Tokyo loves fencing website’ as of late because the link is on the international fencing federation main page and while doing my usual thing where I gawk at fencers who are much better than me I decided to have a look through the website and just look at how cute it is. The two men at the back are Épée fencers, you can tell this because of the more rounded guard covering the hand. The two women at the front are Foil fencers signified by the flat top foil guard. Sadly no Sabre fencer in the cool drawing :(
Tokyo fencing you have out done yourself this time. I love that they were like let us make these really cute and cool looking anime styled fencers then when you press on the website its straight away all the information you need. Rankings and qualifications.
So the reason this banner has been made is that Tokyo was meant to host the Olympics in 2020 and obviously Covid happened and ruined everything but the games have an official date now! July 24th to august 1st. In preparation for this I have been watching some of my favourites fence from a competition earlier this year in Egypt.
I am so excited! Not only to watch the games cause wow interesting why wouldn't I be it is so fun to watch but also to see what happens. With Covid a lot of people had to stop fencing when lockdown swept the world but it would be absolutely great to see an unexpected team win. surprise me Tokyo, for once in my life I am welcoming a change that is out of my control!
At the moment it is usually Russia and China fighting it out for first place in teams. And honestly fair en Poland is there sometimes but I want someone new, I want some excitement! Surprise me Tokyo! Please I crave something new in my life. I also just want to see Egypt win.
Show me Egypt winning teams or Canada. This morning I was watching a recording of the "Fencing World Championships - Egypt -Cairo - 2021 - Junior Individual Epee Finals" and oh my Mohamed Yaseen did such a good job. He is 17 and 3rd in the world for junior fencing and 25th for cadet which is insane for someone so young. In this bout I was watching his finger got caught in the guard and was bleeding and he still won! What a champ!
Mens foil is the only one that always confuses me. America does not place in the top 3 for anything else except the Men's foil teams! America is all for mens foil. America why do you only care about mens foil team, the irregularities confuse me. All of the fencers from America I have met fence Epee and yet you only rank in foil teams!? America you confuse me.
I so badly want to be these girls. Look at them cute epee fencers. In my first fencing blog I wrote about the lack of women in fencing and honestly I would have joined sooner had I seen these very cute fencing women. I also want to charge at a pretty woman with purple hair without a mask. I don't care if neither of us are wearing a mask. I would gladly get stabbed in the face. None of my fencing photos look as cool as this drawing. I am always just way too sweaty or angry at a loss or pulling faces at people. I am very unprofessional when it comes to competitions just there to have fun.
There have been so few international competitions because of Covid so I am very very excited to see this go underway and honestly July cannot come soon enough. I want more fencing content!! One big competition in Egypt is not enough content for me to waste my time with.
Go you Tokyo fencing! Y'all are getting me so hyped and I can barely wait for this competition to go underway.
