Okay, so as everyone knows, I'm on a blogging break right now. I just want to say that I wrote this before I went on break. This is probably the only blog you'll get from me until the 11th of January. I hope you all had a good Christmas and have a great night planned to lead us all into the New Year. I've taken some time to think about what's going on at Yammer and the direction I'm going to take this in for 2021.
We have a team of 12 people right now who I've planned to work on content for next year and I hope to expand it, but it doesn't take a lot to realise that people just don't want to produce the content that we make here. That's fine by me. I'm not offended by that, but I think it's a big waste of my time to keep hoping they'll produce something. I also think that our content is at the best it can be when people want to make it. That's a lot of why I made it. I wanted to do this. If people don't want to make content, that's fine. They won't. It's obvious that some people don't want to and I'll just remove them from the Bloggers Page and they won't work for us anymore. I want people who care about what they do and who want to do more. We don't have a lot of that right now.
It takes motivation to blog and produce content. The way we've done things around here is very much based on a philosophy that you get back out of it what you have put into it. Now everyone knows that Hayden and I often disagree on a lot of things, but he has made content that he has wanted to make this year and he's going to go a fair way with it if he can keep it going. The Chattering Fools released two podcasts this year and we're back on January the 29th after our summer break. Those two examples are great to explain what I mean by that philosophy. Hayden, to his credit, has given us a fair amount of blogs relative to those around it. The Fools are always trying to help with the content and do as much as they all can to get the episodes out on time. This passion and perseverance is exactly what will take them to the next level.
I have plans for 2021 and Yammer House. I may have taken a step back from blogging and I guarantee it is hurting me to do that, but I am working still. I am talking to people and finding ways we can make our content better. I'm almost literally working around the clock. The basic principle is if you want to make content at Yammer House, do it and you will be rewarded when the time comes. If you don't want to make content, then don't. I'm not bothered. I know people who want to do the things you have the platform and resources you've been given to do. It's not an expectation, but it is how I'm running the show now. If you want in, act like it.
I'll be back in January. Stay safe.
