I've been sitting on this for a long time. I'm starting to get my hopes up about this and there's nothing I can do about it. I think I genuinely believe in the 76ers again. I'm not sure why, but I genuinely believe they might do something worth watching. Call me crazy, but I actually think they're going to make it to the Conference Finals this year. Heck, they might even win that and it to the Finals!
We're leading the Eastern Conference. I know... Leading. I can't believe I'm saying it beyond a dream. It's actually the truth. The Philadelphia 76ers are leading the Eastern Conference. What's even more out of the ordinary is that the Brooklyn Nets (a team that has been historically pretty rubbish) are in second in the conference and they're only half a game behind with Milwaukee two games behind the lead in third.
I wrote a blog saying that firing the head coach maybe wasn't the solution to the problem in Philadelphia, but I may have to admit that it was. I liked Brett Brown. I thought he was pretty good. I assumed he wasn't the problem and to a degree, he can't be blamed for everything. Does Doc Rivers have that positive of an impact on the team to the point where Joel Embiid can drop his first 50 Point Game? No idea. Maybe, but realistically probably not. Overall, I'm glad Coach Rivers is in Philadelphia.
Time will tell with this team. I'm not convinced that this squad will win a championship, but why not be hopeful about it? Maybe this is the great basketball team ever assembled (again probably not, but maybe) and we're all witnessing greatness unfolding in Philadelphia. Time, though, will definitely tell. I can't believe I'm saying this again, but... Go Philly!
