When I was growing up and playing Basketball, I had coaches who coached you and that was about it. They didn't take the losses personally and they didn't take their jobs overly seriously either. I guess it helps players when their coaches take it all personally or at least pretend to care what happens in the game. Stephen Silas, Head Coach of the Houston Rockets, takes those losses personally and it shows.
You really hate to see a Coach so helpless over his team losing like that. When you lose for 20 games straight that's bound to hurt, but he took that to a whole new level. The man looks heartbroken. That's the sort of Head Coach everyone wants, I think. I can definitely say he's the sort of Coach that I wanted as a kid.
I was going to write this and throw a sympathy party for Coach Silas because nobody likes to see a man take things to heart that much, but I have probably the greatest news imaginable... The Houston Rockets actually won a Basketball game! I know! This sounds like a prank, but we aren't even a week away from April, so this is true. What's better than this news? Coach Silas looked chuffed. Heck, I'd even say he looked over the moon about this. Just look at how different he looks in this press conference.
Now, I don't think they're playoff ready at all and having that long of a losing streak will pretty much solidify that. I'm happy for Coach Silas. What a guy!
I'm not going to say "Go Rockets" because I really don't care about them that much, but good on Coach Silas.
