"I don't think it's very difficult to coach at Chelsea," said Tottenham manager Jose Mourinho before his side’s game against Chelsea on Friday morning. Which is true. He still should have kept his gob shut though.
He should have kept his gob shut because Spurs have been awful in the last few weeks, playing the sort of horrible, boring, turgid football his sides are known for. And losing – which is quite a problem when you dine out on your reputation of bringing success.
And against Chelsea they continued to be awful, as they tried to suck the life out of the game and prevent any football being played. As is the Jose way. Except they failed here too, losing 1-0 to a Jorginho (he’s a twat) penalty.
But there is another bizarre thing about Jose’s comments, beyond his usual snarky mind games. He used to manage Chelsea. Twice actually, as he won three league titles, three League Cups and one FA Cup across his two spells at the club.
So, Jose, if “it cannot be very, very difficult” to coach Chelsea – are your titles actually worth anything?
