Today’s 2-1 win for Leicester over Manchester United confirmed two things: Manchester City are champions once again, and Leicester will be playing in Champions League next season.
Let’s deal with City first. Hoorah for them, they were by far the best team, play great football la di da isn’t Pep great. Et cetera.
As for Leicester, today’s win all but guarantees that they’ll be playing in Europe next season. I mean technically they could still miss out but really, it’s all over. For them to miss out on top four from here would require them to lose both of their remaining fixtures AND Liverpool or West Ham to win out. That’s not happening. No chance. Zilch, zip, nada, no way, zero prospect of that, sir. Leicester will play in the Champions League next season.
So, Leicester, congratulations. You deserve it.
